He was predeceased by: his wife Donna Jean; his parents, Otto and Eva; and his siblings, Arvin, Arnold, Elmer, Elvin, Harold and Agnes Coats.
He is survived by: his children, Randy (Julie) of Omro, Mark (Sherry) of Omro and Debra Jean of Wausau; his grandchildren, David (Sierra) of Omro, Daniel (Abbey) of Oshkosh, Kelsey and Kolyn of Wausau; his great grandchildren, Claire, Landon, Graham and Charlotte; his sister Violet Kiesow (Richard); and his sisters-in-law, Bernice Schonscheck, Virginia Schonscheck, Yvonne Sprenger and Cheryl Poehlman. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
