He was predeceased by: his parents, William Philipsen and Frances Philipsen (Groen); his brothers, Bill, Bob (Carmina) and Dick Philipsen; and his brother-in-law Roland "Fritz" Revoir.

He is survived by: his wife Carol (Viaene); his daughters, Karen Dietzen (Bruce) and Kelly Coenen (Gary); his grandchildren, Kyle (Alison), Ellie (Jeff Bias), Anna (Seth Joppe), Jon Dietzen (Laura Wintheiser), Tyler (Katie Okamoto), Ben and Charlie Coenen (Anna Roehl); his great grandchildren, Zoelle, Zetta, Zaida Bias, Zackary and Evelyn Joppe; his sister Mary Pat Revoir; and his sister-in-law Pat Philipsen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
