He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenny Nelson and Alice Nelson (Johnson). He is survived by: his wife Donna; his daughter Mandy Holmberg (Tim); his grandchildren, Dan, Jess, Cody and Alicia; his son Matt Nelson (Amy); his grandchildren, Brett and Morgan; his son Jeff Nelson (Chauntel); his grandchildren, Allie and Owen; his siblings, Barb Kohl (Larry), Sandy Veenendaal (Jon) and Randy Nelson (Kathy); and his sister-in-law Lynn Vanda (Mick). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
