He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Helstad and Gina Helstad (Gimse); and his siblings, Mariann Stenberg, Aloydis Eckman and Carlyle Helstad.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Holstad; his daughters, Lori Waldera (Mark) and Renae Stendahl (Scott); his grandchildren, Katelyn Johnson (D. J.), Charles Larson and Jack Waldera; and his great grandchildren, Taylor, Brayden and Haylee Johnson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
