He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Steinbach and Charlotte Steinbach (Gutshow); his wife Carol; his former wife Elaine Steinbach (Zabel); his father-in-law John Hedtke (Lefa); his children, Margo Steinbach and Lon Steinbach; his stepchildren, Mona Zick, Richard Zabel, Beverly Wood, Judy Jennerjohn and Stanley Zabel; his siblings-in-law, Angie, Arndt, Ilene Quaintance and Eugene Hedtke; his nieces, Diane Brighum, Judy Hass, Pamela Gerou and Penny Hedtke; and his nephew Brian Hedtke.
He is survived by: his son Roger Steinbach; and his siblings-in-law, John Hedtke (Jean) and Sue Hedtke. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
