He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Johnson and Beatrice Johnson (Stafslien); his brother Michael Johnson; his nephews, Andrew Peterson and Daniel Koula; his niece Kaetlyn Johnson; his brother-in-law Marvin Heller; and his parents-in-law, Otis and Opal Volden.

He is survived by: his wife Bunnie Johnson (Volden); his family Minocqua; his sons, Phil, Josh and Phillip (Joanne); his grandchildren, Alex, Thomas and Michaela; his son Joshua (Carolyn); his siblings, Joan Heller, Bonnie Peterson (Dean) and Rick Johnson (Ethel); his sister-in-law Donna Johnson; his mothers-in-law, Kathy Volden, Judy Koula (Jon), Vickie Volden, Cheryl Proctor (Morris) and Marla Jones (Tom); and his nieces and nephews, Lisa Bergum, Tom Heller (Svala), Jennifer Kolve, Troy Johnson (Shannon), Nick Johnson, Tina Kagel (Joe), Emily Dayton (Cecil), Jeff Brueggen (Connie), Deb Higley (Tim), Lynn Kloety, David Brueggen (Amy), Eric Brueggen (Tammy), Jill Hengel (Dave), Kelsey Koula, Krista Woodring (Mike), Aaron Volden, Heath Proctor, Jared Proctor, Cole Proctor, Seth Scholl (Jackie), Jessica Scholl, Dylan Jones and Devon Jones-Fitchler (Alex). He is also survived by great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Gundersen Health System for the care and compassion shown during his battle with Covid.
