He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Topel and Verna Topel (Brown-Spears); his wife Dawn Topel (Mauss); his siblings, Harold, Kenneth, Philip, Frederic, Robert Topel, Marilyn Hollis, Violet Rediske and Rita Kaiser; and his daughter-in-law Amy Topel (Emerick).

He is survived by: his children, David Topel (Jackie) of Stoddard, WI, Darin Topel of La Crosse, WI, Heidi Fasnacht (Jim) of Cedar Hill, Heather Lowry (Kris) of Belleville, IL, Joanne Piddington of Madison, WI, Jackie Koelbl (Kraig) of Onalaska, WI, Chris Lounsbrough (Dean) of Onalaska, Cari Blumenthal (John) of Lindstrom, MN and Shelly Janikowski (Paul) of Onalaska, WI; his sisters-in-law, Mary Topel of Veazie, ME, Pat Topel of Mendota, IL and Lynn Topel of Clermont; his close friend Eunice Clements; and his pets, Moe and Dane. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
