He is survived by: his wife Ruth Crass; his sons, John R. Abel (Jane), Bruce Abel and Scott Abel (Lisa); his grandchildren, Jodi Appel (Shawn), Jackie Martin (Scott), Jenny Fribley (Steve), Carey DeWitt, Jodi Falconer (Joe), Marie Jaycox, Steven Abel, David Abel (Melanie), Jeremiah Abel and Hannah Abel; his great grandchildren, Ashley (Mark), Autumn, Ty, Maisy, Nolan, Logan, Deacon, Vayda, Jillian, Mark, Sophia and Matthew; his great great grandchildren, Luella, Delaney and Skylar; his brother Milton Abel; his siblings-in-law, Nancy Boettcher and Douglas Crass (Nancie); and his caregiver John.
Memorials to Kathy Hospice, Trinity Lutheran Church West Bend, and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Eagle River in John's name are appreciated by the family.
