He was predeceased by: his parents, Steven Sr. Schmidt and Esther Schmidt (Ristow); his father-in-law Pete; and his brothers-in-law, Ray Harle and Lauren Orton.
He is survived by: his wife Doris; his children, Julie Ann Bodell of Rock Creek, MN, Linda Reiser of Cambridge, MN and Steve R. Schmidt of Pine City; his grandchildren, Dustin Bodell (Sarah) of Rush City, MN and Cammi Reike (Mark) of Lawrenceville, GA.; his great grandchildren, Bryce, Morgan, Riley Bodell, Hunter Rieke, Philomena, Lucia, Anna Reiser, Ozzie and Albina Lillemoe; his aunt Luella Ristow of Young America, MN; and his sisters-in-law, Jean and Irene. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
