He was predeceased by: his father Paul; and his brother Paul. He is survived by: his sons, John Carlson (Robie) and Joe Carlson (Annaliza); his sister Phyllis Werdier; his grandchildren, Kathleen Struble (Mark), Emily Aschenbrener (Paul), Michael Carlson (Kim), Megan Carlson-Formo (Derrick), Joshua Carlson and Dana Carlson-Kottke (Charlie); and his great grandchildren, Marcus, Sean, Tyler, Hailey, Elizabeth, Bennett and Kelsey. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many, many friends.

Due to Covid-19 concerns, the family will have a private funeral service on Monday, October 19, 2020 at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster.
