He is survived by: his wife Mary; his children, Eric Thompson (Denise) of Austin, Leif Thompson (Coleen) of Danbury, Kyle Thompson (Robyn) of Sparta and Tamra Smith (Cameron) of Danbury, Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Ashley Thompson, Lauren Berger (Jack), Michael Schmidtke, Tyler Schmidtke (Kyrie Grams), Trenton, Corey, Nathan, Adam Thompson, Samuel, Caleb, Joshua and Matthew Smith; his great grandchildren, Nora, Claire Berger, Ethan, Greyson Schmidtke and Adelynne; and his siblings, Rodney Thompson (Jan), Charlane Benson (Mike), Rhonda Heimer (Brooks) and Scott Thompson (Brenda). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
