She was predeceased by: her parents, Oscar Johnson and Gertrude Johnson; her husband Nick Karels; her brothers, Leland, Gerald and Lynnie; and her son-in-law David Steffen.
She is survived by: her daughters, Cynthia Leonard (Phil) of Grantsburg, WI and Leah Sunquist (Ken) of Frederic, WI.; her grandchildren, Jacob Steffen of Frederic, WI, Lauren Gaalswyk (Chris) of Fairmont, MN and Clara Rust (Levi) of Dallas, TX; her great grandchildren, Ryland, Jaxon, Bodin and Lennon Gaalswyk; and her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Mauer and Elsie Johnson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
