Roger Elmer Davidson Obituary

Roger Elmer Davidson, a beacon of warmth and joy, danced his way through life from November 1, 1939 to November 25, 2023, leaving a legacy woven with laughter and love. Born to the late Earl and Eleanora (nee Schaewe) Davidson in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Roger's journey brought him to Kokomo and Carmel, Indiana and Brighton, Michigan for many years before settling in Novi. His legacy of love lives on through his beloved wife, Dolores, his adored children Jill Marie (Paul Kent) Baumann, Susan Lynn (Kathryn Davis) Davidson, Scott Allen (Elaine) Davidson, and his "In-Town Kids," Michael and Kathleen Gehring. Roger was very loved by his four grandchildren, Matthew and Nathan Baumann, and Lauren and Luke Davidson; his brothers Daniel (the late Carol) Davidson, Walter (Judy) Davidson; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Roger's zest for life was evident in his 45-year devotion to barbershop harmony singing, a passion that resonated in every note he shared and every new member he recruited. As a member of the Livingston County Chorale and the Barbershop Harmony Society (also the Milwaukee A Cappella Choristers earlier in life), his melodies echoed the joy he found in every moment. He also shared his voice with the Lord in church choirs wherever he lived.

Roger's life was a mosaic of vibrant moments. After meeting in dance class, Roger and Dolores waltzed into matrimony on January 25, 1964, a partnership that embodied love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family. His early retirement from Delco Electronics (GM) and EDS allowed more time not only for his aforementioned passions, but also traveling, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, financial investing and planning, and pontoon-boating and fishing with family and friends. His competitive streak and prowess shone in games of canasta, cribbage, and billiards. However, beneath that competitive spirit lay a heart that relished every moment shared with friends and family. Roger's courage in facing Parkinson's Disease for over 20 years made him an inspiration to others with his unwavering strength. He will be remembered not just for his love of a good cocktail or a Wendy's chocolate frosty, but for the immense love and joy he brought to every gathering, leaving behind a trove of cherished memories.
