Richard Gustave Zastrow Obituary
Dick was born on December 8, 1934, in Wauwatosa, WI to Gustave and Louise (nee Last) Zastrow. He passed to his home in heaven on September 26, 2024, at the age of 89 years. Beloved husband for 68 years of the late Susan Ann Zastrow. Dear father of Kenneth (Cindy) Zastrow, Robert (Karen) Zastrow, and Karen (James) Young. Loved grandpa of Ben (Samantha), Ken Jr. (Heather), Anna, Jenny (Kevin), Amy (Luke), Kurt (Alisa), Tyler (Jenny), and Teresa (Anthony) and great grandpa of fourteen. Further survived by other relatives and friends.
Dick and Sue enjoyed 68 years together as husband and wife. For 41 of those years, Dick worked for Allis-Chalmers (later Siemens) as an Account and eventually Manager of the Benefits Department. It was work that took them from West Allis, WI to Bradenton, FL and finally Atlanta, GA. Wherever they called home, Dick always enjoyed playing golf and serving at their church. Once he retired and settled in Bradenton, Dick was a regular member of the "Tuesday Crew" at Ascension Lutheran Church helping with all sorts of maintenance projects. Dick will also be remembered as the original "Uber driver," as he was always willing to greet their Florida visitors with a ride from the airport to their home and back. As Dick aged and could no longer do many of the things he loved, he never complained but simply said, "those will just go into the fond memories category.".
Visitation with the family will take place on Monday, October 7, 2024, at the Funeral Home from 4 PM until the time of Funeral Service at 6 PM. Private burial at Wauwatosa Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Pilgrim Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund appreciated.
