Norman Hastings Buck Obituary
Norm was born to eternal life on January 25, 2025, age 87 years. Loving father of twin daughters, Norine (Terry) Zimdars, Lauren (Michael) Van Den Heuvel, and son, Jonathan Buck. Dear grandfather of Aaron (Alissa), Nathan and Seth Zimdars, Bridget Van Den Heuvel and Madison (Luis) Garcia, Marina and Payton Buck; great grandfather to Annabelle, William, Kinsie and Daniel. Fond brother of Wayne (Gloria) Buck; uncle to Scott and Trent and their families. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his spouse, Helen, and parents Donald and Mildred Buck of Kenosha.
Norm was educated in the Kenosha Public Schools and graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in Mechanical Engineering. He held a Professional Engineering License and his long engineering career was spent in the machine tool field with Kearney & Trecker, West Allis and Giddings & Lewis, Fond du Lac.
It was at the University of Wisconsin in Madison where he met his future wife, Helen (nee Fruhling), and was confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Calvary Lutheran Chapel. Norm and Helen were married at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Milwaukee on January 31, 1959 and enjoyed their many years together until her passing on December 24, 2022.
His life's adventure was being part of the activities and development of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling, yard work, outdoor sports activities, supporting Wisconsin athletic teams and maintaining his Brookfield home for over 60 years. He was dedicated to helping others by being a blood (platelet) donor and served. His Lord in various capacities during his many years as a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. It was Norm's desire that all know the Grace of God and respond with service to their Lord. To Him alone be Glory.
A memorial service will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church 10025 W North Avenue Wauwatosa, WI 53226 with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
