Mary J. Runnells Obituary
WAUWATOSA-(nee Woydt). Born to Eternal Life Sunday, December 24, 2023. Age 82.
Mary was born November 19, 1941 in Milwaukee to Fritz and Gertrude (nee Huber) Woydt. She attended Washington High School and graduated in 1960. Mary and Richard "Dick" Runnells met in 1962 while working at Wisconsin Bell. They were married May 11, 1963 and were blessed with three sons; James (Jacqueline), Keith (Pam) and Craig (Julie). Mary is also survived by six grandsons: Nicholas (Nicole), Nolan (Vanessa), Spec. Austin, Brendt, Colin and Ryan; her great-grandson, Chase; her nephew, Ted (Amanda) Woydt; her brother-in-law, Dwain and her sister-in-law, Gertrude Runnells. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Dick who passed away January 13, 2006 and her brother, Fred Woydt and Fred's wife, Mary Woydt.
Mary and Dick enjoyed many years of square dancing with the Suburban 8's and were long-time members of Brookfield Congregational Church. After Dick passed away in 2006, Mary joined the Golden Hawaii Dance Group and performed for many years. She also worked as a volunteer at the Milwaukee County Zoo.
Visitation Friday, December 29, 2023 from 5:00pm until Time of Service at 7:00pm at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home, 10121 W. North Avenue, Wauwatosa. Private Entombment, Pinelawn Memorial Park, Wauwatosa. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Brookfield Congregational Church or the Milwaukee County Zoo appreciated.
