Mary Jane Powell wrote a sympathy message

“I am so sorry to learn of Joan's death. We have been friends since 6th grade at Christ King and then attended Divine Savior together. In the years since I moved to Miami, we kept in touch through birthday cards and she continued to send Christmas cards. I have very wonderful memories of the events we shared growing up and in the later years I was able to see her on my visits to Milwaukee. My condolences to her family.”
