Herbert A. Kubisch Obituary

Herbert "Herb" A. Kubisch, age 98, of Wauwatosa, passed into eternal life on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at St. Camillus Assisted Living Center in Wauwatosa.

Herb was born on November 26, 1926 in Milwaukee to German immigrant parents, Fred and Susan Kubisch. He graduated from Marquette High School in 1944 and joined the U.S. Army. After serving his country, Herb obtained his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University. While in college, herb was introduced by his only sibling (Gretchen) to Marge Schneider. They were a perfect match and were united in marriage on October 8th of 1949 and were blessed with almost 72 years together until her passing in 2021. Herb deeply loved his "Margie" and the 6 children they raised together: Rick (Gail) Mukwonago, WI, Judy (Joe) Yank of Hubertus, WI, Tom (Linda) of Hortonville, WI, David (Meg) of Neenah, WI, John (Barb) of Bloomington, IN, and Steve (Kay) of Erin, WI.

Herb and Marge moved to Fond du Lac in 1956 when he started working as a Mechanical Engineer at Giddings & Lewis Machine Tool Factory, a job he enjoyed until his retirement in 1986. He frequently walked, often with a co-worker, to and from work located a mile away. In 2010 Herb and Marge moved from Fond du Lac to the Milwaukee area to be closer to family and senior living accommodations.

Our Dad was dedicated to his Catholic faith, his wife, and his family. He served at Sacred Heart parish in FDL as a lector, on the parish council, volunteering at the school "Fun Fair", (once building a huge robot in the middle of the gym) and as Cubmaster for Cub Scout Troop. Dad was all about his family. He loved doing fun projects for us kids to enjoy, building a stage coach 4 kids could sit in, a model train set with a town/country setting, and a fort in the backyard along with countless small projects. Dad would often join us for some basketball in the driveway, or as "all-time" quarterback in football in the field across the street. Dad and mom would take us swimming on family night at Taylor Park Pool followed by a trip to DQ for some ice cream. Dad would give mom a break on Saturday mornings and take us to Lakeside Park to ride the train (which gave him a break) and see the animals, or downtown to window shop, or Everix Bakery for some sweets. Every summer was punctuated by a trip "up north" for a week at a rented cottage. As grandkids came on the scene, dad and mom bought a lake cottage up north for the growing family to enjoy. Late in life dad and mom would often travel around to see their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

In addition to their 17 grandchildren: Greg (Jenny) Kubisch, Jeff (Joanne) Kubisch, Sr. M. Faustina (Rachel Yank), Gabrielle Yank, Thomas (Maria) Yank, Laura (Ted) Selker, Andy (Kelly) Kubisch, Mara (Arnel) Lungay, Katie (Stevie) Nickols, Catie (Ryan) Walker, Hannah (TJ) Benak, Jessica Kubisch, Becky (Eddie) Recznik, Mark (Brittney) Kubisch, Leah (Seth) Lindley, Beth Kubisch, Matt (Amanda) Kubisch and 40 great grandchildren.

Dad & Mom left a legacy of faith, love, loyalty, and laughter. We were blessed beyond what we deserve.
