David was born to Harry & Wilma Frailing on July 2, 1937 in Wauwatosa, WI. He attended Atonement Lutheran Grade School, Boys Tech High School and graduated from Custer High School in 1957. His passion for cars led to his purchasing of a service station in 1960, which he named "Dave's Texaco", located at 61st and Villard in Milwaukee, WI. He also loved auto racing and would frequently race cars at tracks in the Milwaukee area. In 1966 his career path changed and he became the fleet manager at Servomation in Milwaukee, WI, repairing the trucks used for the vending routes. His career spanned several name changes of the company which is now known as Canteen. He retired in August of 2002. He married the love of his life, Judith (née Smith) on June 24, 1961, and she survives. Together they had 3 children and moved to Richfield, WI in 1967. Dave's three greatest loves grew to become his family, his church & the fire department. In 1969 he and Judy became one of the founding families of Crown of Life Lutheran Church, which is now located in Hubertus. He was involved in many projects and expansions at Crown of Life Lutheran Church. In January of 1970 he joined the Richfield Volunteer Fire Department (RVFD). From 1977 to 1987 he served as Recording Secretary for the RVFD. In 1979 he was promoted to rank of Lieutenant and was appointed to many committees during his 40 years as a volunteer before retiring in April of 2010. His two greatest interests within the RVFD were working on the 1927 Studebaker firetruck and organizing & teaching Fire Prevention Safety to preschool and elementary school students. In retirement, he and Judy were able to enjoy travel and spending time with their grandchildren.

He was the beloved husband of wife Judith for 61 years. Loving father of Beverly (Jeff) Essig, Vicki (Robert) Tharp and Jeff (Karen) Frailing. Proud grandfather of Matt (Elanda) Essig, Brad (Kate) Essig, Joe (Courtney) Tharp, Emily, Ben & Allison Tharp and Rachel Frailing. Great-grandfather of Harper & Baylor Essig, Luca Essig and one great-grandson Essig who is on the way. Brother of Kathy (Jim) Gilboy, John Frailing & Judy (Tom) Sheridan. Preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Wilma Frailing, two brothers, James & Timothy Frailing and a special son-in-law, Gregg Waugus. Further survived by other relatives and friends. He also had a close relationship with his Cousin, Gene Jaffke. The family would like to thank Kathy Jastromski at Luther Manor for being a wonderful caregiver and friend to David during his time there.
