David Johnson Obituary
Passed away on October 14, 2023, at the age of 90 in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Keith was born on May 29, 1933 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to Thelma Harston (Ludbrook) and Robert Ward Johnson. After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta, Keith married Maridel Margaret McKinnon on February 21, 1959 and they moved to Boston so he could earn his MBA from Harvard University.
Keith had an illustrious corporate finance career working for General Mills, Leisure Dynamics & Izod. In 1991 he and Maridel moved to Manchester, England when he assumed the role of CFO for Reebok International until his retirement at age 65. Their time in England ignited a passion for travel which led them to all corners of Europe, Africa, the Galapagos Islands, Alaska, US and Canadian National Parks, the Mideast and the Caribbean. Their children, grandchildren and extended family were fortunate to be included on many of those trips.
Keith's passions included music and movies, model trains, WWII history, photography and nature, sailing, woodworking, celebrating Christmas with mince tarts, reading and golf, though his game was not his greatest strength.
He will always be remembered for his sage words of advice: "If it were easy, everyone would do it.". "Never say shoulda, coulda, woulda.". "I think you have more to offer than that." & "I don't vote; it just encourages them.". Keith was preceded in death by his sister, Fay, and brothers, Paddy and Noel. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maridel, daughters Marina (John) Rosenberg, Carolyn Davidson, grandchildren Lauren (James) Heaberlin, David (Samantha Wang), Margaret (Gabriel Crespo-Cruz) and Bryan plus three great-grandchildren, Avery, John and Charlie Heaberlin, sister, Dana Van Dyke and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11 AM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make a memorial gift to The Lutheran Home Foundation at 8220 Harwood Avenue, Wauwatosa, WI 53213 or the charity of your choice.
