Beth J. Stoskopf Obituary

Beth (Zitzke) Stoskopf was born into eternal life on April 12, 2024 after a short but valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Loving wife of Michael Stoskopf, and wonderful mother to twin daughters Jennifer (Matt) Coyle and Heather (Obi) Uzowulu. Daughter of Alfred and Aldine Zitzke, sister of Joyce, Joan, Nancy, and Al. Beth grew up in Wauwatosa, WI where she attended Tosa West High School and met her high school sweetheart of 51 years (married 43) Mike Stoskopf. She and Mike both earned degrees from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Beth worked as a manager at McDonald's and then spent 10 years raising her girls, managing the family, serving as a Girl Scout leader, and volunteering in the community. In 1998, Beth returned to the workforce as a Special Education paraprofessional providing many elementary students with the extra support and care they needed. Beth and her family prioritized spending quality time together and enjoyed many vacations to Walt Disney World, the Wisconsin Dells, and camping. When Beth retired in 2018, she and Mike seized their opportunity to travel and explore the world together. During the pandemic, she and Mike spent a school year guiding their two grandchildren, Michael (Mickey) and Bobby, through virtual schooling with Milwaukee German Immersion School. As the pandemic eased, Beth and Mike returned to traveling, enjoying multiple cruises, seeing dolphins in the wild, and finally seeing Disneyland in California, just weeks before Beth's diagnosis. Most of all, Beth loved being a grandmother to Mickey (10), Bobby (7), Caden (4) and Naya Beth (2). She loved hosting slumber parties for the older boys, building pretend rocket ships with Caden, and playing Princess with Naya. Beth's other interests included spending quality time with her friends, attending her daughters' various musical and artistic events, volunteering, swimming and taking water Zumba classes, quilting, frequenting local festivals and State Fair, and simply sitting outside to enjoy the sunshine and butterflies. Beth was also known to break out in dance almost anywhere – including the grocery store and even during an MRI - "they were playing music for me, I literally couldn't help but start boppin' along!". Beth is preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, special friends, and her beloved dogs, Betsy and Scout. In addition to Mike, her girls, sons-in-law Matt and Obi, and grandkids, Beth is survived by her "sister friend" Joyce, sisters Joan and Nancy, brother Al, nephews and niece, many more family members, and treasured friends.

A celebration of Beth's life will occur on Saturday, April 20th at 11:30am. Visitation will begin at 10:00am. At Beth's request, her celebration will be "totally Disney" and all who attend are encouraged to wear Disney-themed or bright-colored attire.
