He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Pijan and Vernette Pijan (Dobberstein); his children, Mary Elizabeth, Richard and Kevin; his sister Barbara Russ (Harold); and his siblings-in-law, Carol (Leonard Jr.), Peggy (David), Shirley Piehl (Tim), Joseph Brisch (Susan), Billy Piehl, Tim Piehl (Shirley), Terry Piehl (Alice), Fritz Kimball (Polly) and Chris Piehl.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Piehl; his son James (Andrea); his grandchildren, Alan, Dallas Gerard, Korbin and Tyler (LaDonna); his great grandchildren, Lumen, Tennley and Aurora; and his siblings, Nancy, Susan Brisch, Leonard Jr. (Brenda), David, Polly Kimball, Alice Piehl, Steve and Mary Piehl. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A funeral Mass was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Michael Catholic Church (611 Stark St, Wausau, WI 54403).
