He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Catherine Dickinson (Wilson) and Russell Dickinson; his wife Beth Sandberg; his daughter Mary Dickinson of Oak Forest, IL; his siblings, Michael (Carol), Barbara Tuft (Mark), Timothy Dickinson (Julie), Weston, Richard Dickinson (Shari) and Merrill; his brother-in-law Lloyd Jacobs of Athens, TX; and his sister Rachele Jacobs. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in James' name with the Wausau Elks Lodge 248.
