He was predeceased by: his parents, John Riel and Winnifred Searvogel Riel; his son Steven; and his siblings, Jim, Clarence, Wally, Garrett, Catherine, Marvin Riel, Janet Nummerdor and Johanna Ver Stratte.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Riel; his children, Pamela Riel of Waupun, Jeffrey Riel (Lori) of Waupun and Susan Binnebose (Brian Wilderman) of Waupun; his grandchildren, Ben, Aaron, Asia, Sean, Sara, Elizabeth, Victoria, Kaytlynn, Alex, Arianna and Johnathon; and his sister Haleta Otte (Cliff). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
