He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Harmsen and Jennie Harmsen (Hull); his wife Hilma Jean Harmsen; his sons, Jeffrey and Timothy Harmsen; his brothers, Gerald and David Harmsen; and his brother-in-law Gary Spiering.
He is survived by: his children, Gregory Harmsen (Beverly) of Tomball, TX, Stanley Harmsen of North Fond, Lac, Kathleen Jeche (Dale) of Juneau and Karen Tjepkema (Gerald) of Waupun; his siblings, Ken Harmsen of Fox Lake and Jane Spiering of Jupitor, FL; and his sisters-in-law, Fritz and Lorna Harmsen. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
