He is survived by: his spouse Tinamarie; his children, Jamie Schmitt, Kyle Schmitt (Bailey), Sarah Marie Verstegen (Connor) and Ryan Olson (Mardi); his siblings, Linda Edmunds, Lois Reil (David), Karen Edmunds (Jack), Frank Schmitt (Patty) and Dennis Schmitt (Victoria); and his brother-in-law Jeff Hall. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
