He was predeceased by: his parents, Adolph Schwanke and Gladys Swanlaw Schwanke; his wife Marjorie Hartgerink; and his siblings, Harold Schwanke (Clara), John "Jack" Schwanke, Gail Schwanke, Betty Solin (Edward) and Lucille Roeske (Carl).
He is survived by: his sisters, Nancy Rote (Romayn) and Phyllis Schwanke-Kauffman; and his siblings-in-law, Ed Hartgerink, Viola Schwanke and Judith Schwanke. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
