He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Berg and Josie Vanden Berg (Bresser); his sister Evelyn Buwalda (Wiebe); his wife Nancy Vanden Berg (Paffenroth); and his stepfather Bill DeBoer.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kay Elliott (Pat) of Bloomington, MN and Ann Cahill (John) of Prior Lake, MN; his grandchildren, Joe Cahill (Amanda), Elizabeth Soucoup (Jonathan), Erin Sherman (Dan), Conor Elliott and Shae Elliott (Jed); his great grandchildren, Sawyer, Hannah, Emmett, Grace, Scarlett, Ramona, Hecate and Octavian; and also Dale.
