He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Schelter and Marie Schelter (Reilly); his brother Jimmy Schelter (James); and his daughter Becky Schelter (Rebekah). He is survived by: his wife Julie Hoffmann; his children, Jamie Schelter, Joseph Hoffmann (Stephanie) and Lilly Guenther (Brandon); and his siblings, Julie Schelter (Rob) and Mike Schelter (Ann). He is also survived by five grandchildren; two nephews; and a large extended family that included many close friends.
