He was predeceased by: his grandfather Oscar Hechel; and his siblings, Lee, Casey and Joshua Hechel. He is survived by: his parents, Douglas Hechel (Patti) and Laura Schneider (Robert); his siblings, Anastasia and Viktor; and his grandparents, Joe, Jean Thomas, Jennie Woller and Janet Hechel. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Dmitri's name has been established to support mental health.
