He was predeceased by: his parents, Warren Smith and Florence Smith (Wozniak); and his brother-in-law Pat Donovan. He is survived by: his siblings, Joan Donovan, Russell Smith (Vicky), Carol Neu (Dave) and Marvin Smith; his nieces and nephews, Kyle Donovan (Tania), Cory Donovan (Leixia), Kimberly Degner (Ryan), Tina Ostopowicz (Paul), Tracy Miller (Brad), Dana Leake (Gavin), Scot Neu (Tracy), Kelly Neurose (Michael), Tim Neu (Kristin), Matthew Smith (Kate), Travis Smith (Holly) and Chris Smith (Brittni); and his friend Karen Maren. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
