He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerald F. Chwala and Leona H. Chwala (Pautsch); his wife Karen Traxler; and his siblings, William "Bill" Chwala, Robert Chwala and Maryann Hepp (Donald).

He is survived by: his sons, Michael Chwala (Karen) of Oceanside, CA, Kenneth Chwala (Rosemary) of Watertown, WI, Patrick Chwala (Holly) of Watertown, WI, Larry Chwala (Tammy) of Johnson Creek, WI and Randy Chwala (Katye) of Lake Mills; his stepchildren, Debbie Landowski (Ev) of Jefferson, WI, Marvin Schoenherr (Becky), Scott Schoenherr (Pam) of Watertown, WI, Karrie Wehunt (David), Wanda Austin (Dale) of Watertown, WI and Shawn Strasburg (Heather) of Fort Atkinson, WI; his brother Gerald Chwala (Emily) of Jefferson; and his sisters-in-law, Bonnie Chwala of Jefferson, WI and Barb Chwala of Jefferson, WI. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren and over 30 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Randy Schopen Foundation or St Paul's Lutheran Church.
