He was predeceased by: his parents, Kate Bongard and William Bongard; his siblings, Marvin, Adeline, Jan, Mark and William (Bill); and his nephew Jeff Bongard.

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Bongard; his sons, Scott Bongard of Schaumburg and David Bongard (Carey) of Mequon; and his grandchildren, Ryan Bongard (Stefanie), Kate Filipp (Collin) and Kendall Bongard. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
