He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin Coughlin and Stella Coughlin (Stangler); his brother Tom (Sharon Coughlin); and his sister-in-law Bonnie Coughlin. He is survived by: his wife Vicki Eberle; his son Patrick Coughlin (Jeannie); his grandchildren, Katie (Austin), Matthew (Katie) and Ryan Coughlin (Alexiyah); his daughter Peg Billing (Peter); his grandchildren, Brighid Billing and Heather Zerr (Daryl); his children, Richard Coughlin and Sue van Zanten (Klaas); his grandchildren, Thomas, Nicole and Ella van Zanten; his son Chris Coughlin (Kristie); his grandchildren, Alex, Peyton and Joseph Eugene Coughlin; his great grandchildren, Hallie, Lauren, Parker, Calla, Colter Eugene, Emma and Julien; and his siblings, Jerry Coughlin, Sister Lucille Coughlin, Ken Coughlin and Carolyn Geason (John). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
A rosary was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Homes - Watertown (213 S 5th St, Watertown, WI 53094). Visitation was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Bernard's Catholic Church (114 S Church St, Watertown, WI 53094). A Mass was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gene's name can be made to St. Bernard's Catholic Church, the Watertown FFA, or a charity of one's choice.
