He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin and Adelaide; and his brother Allen Hinze (Jeanette). He is survived by: his wife Bernice E. Stillmacher; his children, Greg Hinze (Sarah) and Kristi Giese (Chris) of Watertown; and his grandchild Keyera Giese.

Del battled Alzheimer's for the last 8 years of his life.
