He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis "Frank" Sullivan and Elizabeth "Betty" Sullivan; his stepparents, Anita Sullivan and Lloyd Menke; his granddaughters, Grace Uecke and Lila Winkelman; his siblings, John Sullivan, Mary Hartman, Dennis Sullivan, Joseph Sullivan and Tom Sullivan; and his parents-in-law, Lloyd Bartelt and Joyce Ninmann.

He is survived by: his wife Penny; his children, Paula Kaulback, Wendy Winkelman (Phil) and Michael Sullivan; his grandchildren, Andrea Deel (Brady), Kayla Sandiford (Devon), Brandon Sullivan, Hanna Uecke, Avalon Uecke and Nevaeh Uecke; his great grandchildren, Cooper Aurand, Emirae Aurand, Elowen Deel, Braxton Gardner and Kolton Sandiford; his siblings, Terry Smelcer (Ken), Jerry Sullivan, William Sullivan (Cheryl), Richard Sullivan, James Sullivan (Linda), Anne Marie Sullivan, Patricia Braasch (Paul Barry) and Kathy Petrie (Jack); his stepsisters, Barb Koellen (Bob) and Brenda Staude (Paul); and his sister-in-law Barbara Bartelt. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests to plant a hearty tree (but not too close to a garden) in memory of Danny.

Sue Noyes wrote a sympathy message

“Dan was one of my favorite customers here at Kwik Trip—coming in for his morning coffee—until problems with his eyesight prevented him from getting out as much. I called him “Sunshine” and we’d talk gardening. Dan gave me some strawberry shoots that I hope to see strawberries from this summer. Each one will remind me of Dan. My heart goes out to his family. I will miss my morning “Sunshine.” Sue”
