He is survived by: his wife Sandie; his parents, William Dittmann and Helen Dittmann of Watertown; his brother Janet Howey; his cousin Clarence Dittmann; and also Betty Lillge. He is also survived by friends, especially dear friends.

“I met Daniel more than 40 years ago when we worked together at Federal Signal. We remained friends all these years. I think of Dan every year on this day (we always joked that he was older than me; our birthdays are close in date and would call each other every year!). I've been searching for him and found this obituary. I'm deeply saddened yet grateful for our long-living friendship. Ironic he passed on his birthday. God Speed, my friend. I'll always cherish our moments together.”
