He was predeceased by: his mother Enid Pölkemann. He is survived by: his wife Jill Lumby; his child Annemette Vallin-Brenoe (Leif); his grandsons, William and Tobias; his stepchildren, Amy Leinen (Dan) and John Pohlman (Alicia); and his stepgrandchildren, Seamus, Samantha, Stella, Nora and Beau. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
