He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Midthun and Marie Midthun (Aers); his brothers, Theodore and Thomas; and his brothers-in-law, Eugene Lund, Henry Manson and Robert Wopat.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, Jonathan Midthun and Stephanie Toppen (Tom); his grandchildren, Emily Midthun, Olivia Midthun, Jack Toppen and Lily Toppen; his siblings, Betty Gulseth (LaVern), Mary Lou Lund, Gloria Horstmann (Henry), Linda Bongard (Richard) and Larry Midthun (Roberta); and his siblings-in-law, Roger DeChant, Irene Manson, Jaynie DeChant and Ruth Wopat.
