He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Hmielewski and Harriet Hmielewski (Roberts); and his brother Bob. He is survived by: his wife Sharon; his children, Chris Hmielewski (Theresa), Carrie Hecimovich (Jamie) and Dana Hmielewski; his grandchildren, Donovan, Madalyn Hecimovich and Katrina Kostka; and his brother Thomas Hmielewski (Carol Lindsey). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives.
