He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Opsahl and Elsie Opsahl (Depner); and his siblings, Bernadine Kain (Don), Bernice Siebers and Bernard Opsahl.

He is survived by: his children, Jackie Arndt (Bryon) and Clayton Opsahl; his close friend Mary Kemps; his grandchildren, Aurorah Arndt, Ambrosia Arndt, Arieonna Arndt, Olivia Opsahl, Izabella Opsahl and Amelia Opsahl; his brother Berryl Opsahl; and his brother-in-law Dale Siebers.
