She was predeceased by: her parents, Russell Anderson and Ellen Anderson (Evert); her brother Arlan Anderson; her nieces, Shari Westra and Laurie Daigle; and her siblings-in-law, LaVerne Schumann (Geri), Nathalie Bergum (Bud) and Shirley Starczynski (Paul).

She is survived by: her husband James Schumann; her daughters, Shannon Verbos and Erin Schumann (Mike Roberts); her brother Duane Anderson (Marcia); and her siblings-in-law, Joyce Prochnow, Gloria Mullvain (Mike) and Eugene Schumann (Jean). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Virginia's name to the Dane County Humane Society.
