He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Aranda and Dolores Aranda (Ferrari); and his brother-in-law Skip Murphy. He is survived by: his wife Stella Murphy Phillips; his children, James E. Phillips and Ladessa Phillips; his sisters, Carmen Vera, Bertha Banzhaf, Consuelo Montoya and Maria Aranda; his grandchildren, James L. Phillips (Xena), Saen Phillips and Mary Sickles; his great grandchild Cain (Phillips); and his sister-in-law Sandra Nye (Ken). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
