She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Vandertie and Emily Vandertie (Rankin); her husband Norbert Bretl of Michael's Catholic Church; her son Greg Bretl; her grandson David Lee Bretl; her siblings, Bernice Walter, Richard, Raymond, Alvin, Lindy, Frank, Jr., Wilbur, Roy and Norbert; and her brothers-in-law, Bob Tanck, Walter Denil and Algie Fenendael.
She is survived by: her children, Allan Bretl (Jane) of Toledo, OH, Loren Bretl (Marcia) and Jean Spanbauer (Timothy J. Kelly); her sisters, Marion Tanck, Mildred Denil and Jeanette Fenendael; and her sisters-in-law, Shirley Vandertie, Green Bay and Judy Vandertie. She is also survived by ten grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Laverne's name may be sent to St. Vincent DePaul or the Cancer Society.
