He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Johnston and Gertrude Johnston Sr. (Doll); his wife Charlene Thompson; and his brother Joseph Johnston. He is survived by: his children, Kathleen Johnston, Thomas Johnston III (Anne), Bryan Johnston (Sandy) and Richard Johnston (Jeanne); his grandchildren, Mike, Matt, Mark McCormick, Alyssa, Tom, Jordan Johnston, Bryan, Danny Johnston, Shannon and Richie Johnston; his great grandchildren, Michael, Presley McCormick, Matthew, Grace, Kinsley McCormick, Madigan, Mave McCormick, Lucian, Felix Schneider, Ashton Johnston, Lucas and Alex Johnston; and his sister Virginia Schuerr.
