He is survived by: his wife Lynn Schmidt of Townsend; his children, Anthony Schmidt (Cathy) of New London, Brian Schmidt of Buchanan and Yukari Uematsu (Hishasi) of Tokyo; his grandchildren, William Schmidt (Katie) of Gillett, Casey Bestul (Jen) of New London, Erin Krueger (Troy) of Royalton, Maxwel Schmidt of Buchanan, Alex Reinke (Carley) of Appleton, Brandon Reinke (Amanda) of Kaukauna, Haruki Uematsu of Tokyo and Kaho Uematsu of Tokyo; his siblings, Suezanne Mueller (Richard) of Indiana and Thomas Schmidt (Vicki) of Winchester; his siblings-in-law, Chris Voigt of Menasha, Donald Voigt (Kathy) of Darboy, Roger Voigt (Merry) of Menasha and Randal Voigt of Tacoma, Washington; and his aunt Carol Rasmussen of Menasha. He is also survived by five godchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
