It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Herminia Benavides Schaefer of Tomah, Wisconsin, born in San Antonio, Texas, who passed away on February 20, 2022, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Anselmo Benavides and Angelina Benavides (Correa); her nephew Ronald Mendoza; her nieces, Christina Acevedo and Krista Franciscus; her parents-in-law, Fredrick Schaefer, Jeanette Schaefer and Lucille Schaefer; and her siblings-in-law, Bonita Schaefer, Norma Benavides, William Schaefer, Terry Taylor and David Brown.
She is survived by: her husband Duane Schaefer; her children, Dennis Ilias (Mary) of Georgia, Michelle Norman (Bernard) of Tomah, Wisconsin and Jessalyn Golgart (Benjamin) of Hawaii; her grandchildren, Arthur Guevara, Iain Owen, Makayla Golgart and Hendrick Norman; her siblings, Anselmo Benavides of San Antonio, Texas, Jesse Benavides of San Antonio, Texas, David Benavides (Yolanda) of San Antonio, Texas, Ernest Benavides of San Antonio, Texas, Juanita Vidal (Richard) of San Antonio, Texas, Beatrice Rizzo (John) of San Antonio, Texas, Bertha Allen (John) of Killeen and Martha Delay of Denver, Colorado.; and her sisters-in-law, Rita Taylor of Tomah, Bette Stone (Steve), Kathryn Brown and Ida Schaefer of Norwalk, Wisconsin.. She is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and family, and friends.
She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease shortly after retiring from nursing.
