Michael Taylor Obituary
Of Sussex. Born into Eternal Life on Friday, August 4, 2023 at the age of 78. Loving husband of the late Nancy (nee Miller). Beloved father of Holly (Chad) Geffers and Michele (Eric) Bartelt. Proud grandpa of Nolan and Charlie Geffers, and Ty and Rylee Ann Bartelt. Dear son-in-law of Patricia Logan. Cherished brother of Judith Taylor, Richard (the late Ruth) Taylor, Doug (Betty) Taylor and Susan (the late Jerry) Muehlenberg. Brother-in-law of Brad (Cindy) Miller and John Miller. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mike is preceded in death by his sister Kristine and parents, Richard and Beatrice Taylor.
Mike was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born the third of six children and graduated from Brookfield East High School in 1964. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1965, and worked as an airplane mechanic, spending some time in Japan. After the Air Force he met the love of his life, Nancy on a blind date. They married in 1972 and settled in Sussex where they raised their two daughters. Over the years he worked as a supervisor for Whitlock Auto and later in auto parts sales and service. Mike also spent time working as a custodian for Galilee Lutheran Church.
In 1977 Mike and Nancy purchased land on Silver Springs Lake in Neshkoro, WI and began plans to build their beloved cottage. He and Nancy traveled there frequently to enjoy the water and simple beauty of nature with family and friends. Throughout their lives Mike and Nancy held a strong faith and attended Galilee Lutheran Church in Pewaukee regularly.
In his free time Mike traveled to Canada for fishing trips, was a hunter, coached softball for his daughters teams, and was on multiple bowling leagues. He also enjoyed tinkering on his 1957 convertible Corvette. After the passing of Nancy in 2009, Mike retired and found joy in watching his grandchildren grow and visiting with them for "corn dog night" and Sunday dinners.
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 13 from 11AM until time of Funeral Service at 12:30PM at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home – Sussex; W250 N6505 Hwy 164. Private burial will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery in Lannon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Galilee Lutheran Church.
