Lynn M. Bogart Obituary
Lynn M. Bogart passed away on April 15, 2023 under hospice care at home, with her husband and daughter by her side, and following a nine-month battle with glioblastoma (brain cancer). She was born May 7, 1951 to Alvin and Lois Mitchell in Charleston, SC. The family moved to Milwaukee when she was small, and Lynn graduated from Riverside High School in 1969. She met her husband, Don, at Kohl's Food Store, where she worked in the bakery department and he was a bagger. They married on August 28, 1971 at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, Milwaukee. After Don graduated from pharmacy school, they settled in Menomonee Falls, where they raised their two daughters.
Lynn worked as a tax preparer for H&R Block for over 30 years. She and Don shared a love of travel and adventure, including a 40-year annual tradition of camping with friends and family on Rock Island in Door County, WI. By the time they decided in their 60s that no cars or electricity was a little rough, they had become experienced world travelers on cruise ships, allowing Lynn to dress in formal wear and order every dessert on the ship's menu. Most often, they were accompanied by Lynn's sister, Pam, and her husband, Don. These travels included the Caribbean, Mediterranean Sea, Baltic Sea, Greece, Hawaii, Tahiti, Alaska, and trans-Atlantic cruises.
Above all else, Lynn loved her family and especially loved being a grandma. Her five grandsons were her pride and joy, and she always made the time to let each one know how special he was to her. She especially loved watching their sporting events. No matter what the weather conditions, Lynn was always on the sidelines cheering them on.
Lynn's parents preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Don; daughters, Kelly (Dale) Rait and Erin (Ryan) Loucks; and grandsons, Xander, Jaxon, Quinn, Gavin and Cooper. Also surviving are sisters, Pam (Don) Borland and Sandy (Robert) Reis; siblings-in-law, Gail and Bill Steckel, and Sharon and Dave Faulks; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank Ellen and the Horizon Hospice team for their devoted care of Lynn during her final days.
