Kathleen Maloney Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we have to announce the passing of Kathleen Maloney at the age of 75. She is preceded in death by her parents, Russ and Joan. Kathie is survived by her only son, Patrick (Jennifer), grandchildren Sawyer and Noah. Her sisters Pam (Bob) Poblocki, Janet (Rich) Janke, brother Derek (Sandi) Burghardt and many nieces and nephews.
Kathie grew up in Brookfield and Wauwatosa. She attended school at UWM and eventually transferred to Alverno and graduated with a degree in nursing. She was an inspiration to many as she was a divorced mom, putting herself through school, working and raising a child. And while accomplishing all that, she was diagnosed in her 30's with rheumatoid arthritis.
She worked for most of her career in mental health as a psychiatric nurse. She never was short of stories to share while she was employed there at any gatherings. Everyone loved hearing her latest adventures she experienced. Kathie finished her career at a clinic that gave measured methadone doses to patients as a treatment for addiction.
Few people loved pets more than Kathie did. She owned mostly dogs, but had a few cats in the mix. Some of the pets she's owned over the years, Mandy and Rocky (mother and son Lhasa's), 2 cats - Garfield and Grover, but there are no pets that she loved more than the many Shih Tzus she's owned over the years, especially for Willoughby. No doubt her most adored Shih Tzu's she has ever owned.
Kathie's final years were in a beautiful apartment she lived in, in Sussex. She was so proud to finally have everything she had wanted for a home. A single floor with no stairs, attached garage, laundry on the same floor and no responsibility for any of the outdoor maintenance. She was so happy to host Christmas eve with her family. Kathie was truly the happiest she had been these last few years in her apartment. Her favorite thing was to just camp out in her living room and watch documentaries, movies and especially English based shows.
Kathie was a great mom, a great nana, great sibling and a great friend. She will be very much missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Sussex on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 10am until time of Memorial Service at 12pm.
